We want to take a moment to clear up a few rumors and keep our community in the loop.
At the last school board meeting, we talked about the recent drop in participation in boys sports, especially football and basketball, and how we can best support our students moving forward. As part of those conversations, we have also spoken with a few neighboring schools about the possibility of a cooperative football program due to low participation numbers.
These discussions are only part of looking at all of our options and doing what’s best for our kids. We have enough students to field a team, but if injuries or other things occur, it could leave us in a tough spot.
We truly appreciate the support of our families and community, and we promise to continue sharing updates as we work through this together. Our goal is to keep providing our students with great opportunities with all activities.

Over the past 20 years, our Warbird logo has been a big part of who we are. It’s something many of us recognize instantly and feel connected to.

Lately, we’ve been exploring what it might look like to clean up and modernize the logo while still keeping the same overall concept and identity that people know and love. This is not a final decision and nothing is changing right now, we’re simply looking for feedback.

We truly value the voice of our community, so we want to hear from you. Here is a short survey:

Your input will help guide any future conversations. Thanks for being part of what makes this community special and for sharing your honest thoughts with us.

Wolsey-Wessington school will be 2 hrs late today due to icy road conditions. All bus routes will be 2 hrs later than normal. Highways are clear, but county oil roads and gravel roads are slick. Give yourselves plenty of time to drive in and drive safe!

Hello this is Mr. Donovan. With our first weather related early out I want to make sure everyone is communicated with. If you could please text the number "79041" and have the message say "Yes". This will opt you into the text messages and calls if something happens. This is the best way to communicate with everyone to make sure everyone knows what is going on. Stay safe and stay warm!

Hello everyone, this is Mr. Donovan. I want to congratulate our volleyball team on making it to the SODAK 16 on Tuesday. They will play in Timber Lake against Harding County at 6:00pm Mountain Time (7:00 Central). Due to the long drive and making sure everyone is able to make it to the game on time, we will be having an early release at 12:30(Tuesday, Nov. 11). The Veterans Day Program will be moved to 10:00am in the big gym. Thank you for your understanding and GO WARBIRDS!

Hello everyone, this is Mr. Donovan. As many of you already know, our new track and football field are officially complete! I want to extend a heartfelt thank-you to every community member who supported this project. We are incredibly grateful for your generosity and commitment in helping us make this vision a reality. I also wanted to share an exciting update for this spring: the project bids came in lower than expected, which allows us to move forward with additional improvements. We’re planning to add a concession stand with restrooms, bleachers, and a press box using the remaining funds. None of this would be possible without your continued support. Please feel free to come out and enjoy the new track—just remember to stay off the newly seeded field while it takes root! Thank you again for everything you do for our school and community.
